How did I get here?

There are so many paths to leadership. Some of us have people who see potential in us and nurture those things in us. Others find themselves in the role of a leader unexpectedly and unprepared for what is to come. Unfortunately, I found myself in the latter category.

Honestly, it has taken me some time to figure out what I wanted for my career. I knew that I enjoyed working with and developing programs for students, but that was as far as I visualized. It wasn't until I found myself as the ex-facto leader of a unit that I started to explore what it meant to be a leader. Much more, how do you lead when things are chaotic and move everyone in a unified direction? I am still searching for the answers, but I think that I am closer than before.
